June 25: Snacks/Food Policy- what to know!
We wanted to provide a brief update about snacks/food and related policies for the upcoming summer:
1) Kettles/hot pots/cooking appliances are strictly prohibited and will be confiscated and not returned.
2) Snacks in cabin- As previously communicated, we are piloting a test policy allowing campers to bring some snacks to camp.
JR SHIFT (Grades 1-6): Campers can bring a standard grocery bag of share-able snacks. They will be put in a communal bin for the campers to have for cabin parties and/or equitable distribution at the staffs' discretion. Rooted in our values of Family and Community, campers will learn about sharing and about what it means to live as a friendly, cohesive community and family unit! With a few days to go until camp, this is a great time to talk to your child about this policy. For clarity, anything sent is shared by the group and is not stored for a particular camper. Therefore, please do not send items that are not shareable as these will just be removed and donated to the food back in town.
Notwithstanding the above, any camper with registered dietary restrictions/allergies should have this noted on their snack bag and we will ensure that the special snacks will be allocated accordingly.
SR SHIFT/CIT (Grades 7-10): Campers can bring snacks that fit into a 20L sealable container. Food/snacks beyond this container will not be permitted. Please make sure the bin is labelled with the camper's name. This bin should be brought on the bus when they come up to camp.
All food must be kosher and nut free. Any food that does not meet these criteria will be confiscated and donated to a local food bank.

July 17, 2024: For campers needing regular medications
For campers who take daily/regular medication
In our ongoing efforts to improve efficiency of medication administration and ensure your camper gets medication at appropriate times, we are once again using an enhanced protocol that involves smart blister packaging through a pharmacy called Green Pharmacy.
Green Pharmacy will make the entire process a breeze for you! Once you complete our online consent form to transfer medication preparation to Green Pharmacy for the Summer 2024 camp season, they will prepare, package and send the medications directly to camp for you! There is no additional cost or time for you. Each medication will be labelled, and packaged as per dosage instructions. Please note ALL medications for the camp season must be arranged under this plan.
Your first step is completing the consent form by clicking HERE NO LATER THAN MONDAY JULY 21ST.
If your child takes medications, this form must be completed in addition to indicating the meds on Health History form.
For more info about this process, please click here: campnbb.com/meds2024
Please note re: Over the Counter medications: Please do not send any anticipatory over the counter meds. If you do, please note that it will go into our general pool of medications. Exception: if your child uses an over the counter medication on a daily or regular/ongoing basis, then that should be provided as per above. Our camp's Health Centre is well equipped with any over the counter medication for our campers and staff and will be dispensed as per medical direction.
As a friendly reminder if still not completed, the Health History Form is due.
Your status is:
The information on the Health History Form assists us in caring for your child. You are required to complete it annually, whether or not there have been changes. Please note that this medical form that you complete will be the only document relied upon to care for medical, psychological, social and safety issues that arise. Please be thorough. Discussions throughout the year and/or emails with camp staff, including Directors, do not replace your requirement to put all relevant info on the respective form(s).
Additional forms- for Anaphylaxis or life threatening allergies and conditions- only fill out if this pertains to your child:
a) If your child has an anaphylaxis allergy and carries an epipen with them at all times, you must additionally fill out the form 'NBB Anaphylaxis with Medical Liability Waiver'. (Returning campers- this form must be completed and submitted each year.)
b) If your child has a potentially DANGEROUS, life-threatening condition, that is non allergy/anaphylactic related, you must additionally fill out the form 'Serious Medical Condition Alert Form' (Returning campers- this form must be completed and submitted each year.)
In addition, please send us a scan/photocopy of the Health Card for each child and email it to us by clicking here (with the name of the child(ren) in the subject line of the email) or emailing [email protected]. It is important that we have a copy of their Health Card in case of a hospital visit. If the card expired and you received a new health card version code within the last 9 months, please send us the updated number and version code.
