We have some incredible tools and resources at camp that best support your children and our staff:
1) Camper Connection Form (completed by the camper, before camp) - an opportunity for campers to share some of their personality, likes, dislikes, and hopes for the summer before camp even starts! The goal of this is to aid in creating a meaningful and genuine connection between campers and staff as quickly as possible.
2) Emoji forms - an opportunity for a camper to provide feedback on how they are doing at camp; purposefully designed using emojis to help ensure campers of all ages can independently provide feedback. Every camper's form is reviewed by their Unit and Section Head and/or a member of our Wellness Team.
3) Camper Feedback Form - a weekly form filled out between camper and counselor that gives them the opportunity to discuss favorites and challenges of the week, set goals, and touch base on a camper's overall experience.
4) Purple Boxes. Like a traditional suggestion box, campers will have an opportunity to reach out quietly and in their own words to a member of the wellness team. This will provide another level of feedback and connection between campers and the Leadership Team.
5) Growing Wellness Team - this summer we have our biggest Camper and Staff Wellness Team we have ever had. Led by the amazing Daniela Aptowitzer, we are excited to welcome back Stacia Wolle, Laura Title, Sarah Bernholtz and Diana Kirzner, and we are thrilled to welcome Will Flomen and Arli Marans to the team. This amazing collection of social workers, teachers, guidance counsellors and long time camp staff ensure we are well equipped to provide the best care and support for our staff and campers when it comes to their mental, emotional, social and spiritual health.
6) Yedid Nefesh Grant recipient- We are very proud to share that Camp Northland has been selected as a leader in the Mental, Emotional, Social and Spiritual Health field and has been honored as a recipient of a three-year grant through the Federation of Jewish Camps. This will support our ongoing training, Wellness programming, and staffing.
Back on June 7, 2022, we hosted a special Wellness session on Zoom for our families to help everyone mentally prepare for camp, and tips on adjusting to camp as well once our campers are there. That session was recorded and can be found by clicking here.
