 Supplementary 2022 Covid-19 policies

Camp Northland’s updated Supplementary 2022 Covid-19 policies, in accordance with the recommendations of our Medical Advisory Committee
JUNE 24, 2022

These policies are in addition to Camp’s existing Covid-19 policies as previously set out, and are subject to further revision or change, as circumstances may warrant throughout the summer.

Testing and Masking at Camp
  • Covid-19 testing will be conducted at Camp in the attending medical team's professional discretion.
  • Campers or staff will be tested in Camp if it is determined by the Camp’s medical team that the results of such a test will impact management of the individual.
  • We do not intend to require cohorting or masking at Camp unless deemed appropriate by the medical team to control suspected cases of covid-19 or other infectious disease.

Medical Centre - Masking
  • All campers and staff will be required to always mask when visiting the Camp’s Health Centre.
  • Masks will be provided by the camp at no cost for this purpose

If a child or staff tests positive for Covid,
  • Unfortunately, in most circumstances we will not be able to manage a Covid-19 case with isolation at camp due to capacity limits, housing needs, and staffing and supervision requirements.
  • In most circumstances, upon a positive Covid-19 test, the child or staff will be sent home to recover from covid, in the best interests of the child and other campers and staff at camp.
  • Parents will be responsible to pick their children / staff up at camp promptly if this occurs.
  • In some limited cases (such as support staff), isolation at camp may be possible but parents should expect that a child with covid will be sent home to recover:
·         A camper/staff sent home by the camp due to a positive covid test will be permitted to re-enter camp after 10 days if asymptomatic, and case review by the acting medical director at the time.

·         All families of campers sharing a cabin with a person with a known positive case of Covid-19 will be notified promptly, allowing parents to make an informed decision on if they choose to pick up their child.

·         Such a cabin shall be subject to such additional health measures as may be deemed appropriate by the camp's medical team in its professional discretion to control suspected cases of Covid-19 or other infectious diseases. These additional measures may include ongoing monitoring for symptoms, cohorting, masking, and such other non-pharmaceutical interventions as may be directed by the Camp’s medical team.

Revised Refund Policy
If a camper is sent home by the camp due to a positive Covid-19 test at camp:
  • The Camp will refund 100% of the camper’s paid fees for up to 10 missed days (on a per diem basis) of the camper's registered session.
  • Refunds shall be limited to the number of Camp days actually missed due to Covid-19.
  •  If the camper is unable to return due to medically documented, ongoing  complications related to a Covid-19 diagnosis, any additional refund beyond the 10-day maximum shall remain solely in the camp's discretion.
  • Refund requests will be processed in September 2022.
  • This refund policy may be subject to further revision or change as circumstances may require.
