RECOMMENDED TEST (10-14 days before camp):
All campers are also RECOMMENDED to take a PCR test 10-14 days before. The reason being, a test done 2 weeks prior to camp, is the best way to ensure the most favourable possible outcomes:
Either
a) A negative test result (and then you'll take the mandatory test as well the day before departure)
or
b)  A positive test result, which will allow you to follow appropriate protocol and then come to camp without the need for a second PCR test, so long as you are asymptomatic on the day of departure.

SCHEDULE FOR RECOMMENDED TEST:
Monday, June 20th: Last names beginning with A-I
Tuesday, June 21st: Last names beginning with J-R
Wednesday, June 22nd:  Last names beginning with S-Z
Drop in anytime between 8:30am-4:30pm! Park the car, go inside and let them know are a Camp Northland camper. They will swab you and you can go! The results will be sent directly to us.

If your assigned day doesn't work for you, you can also drop in on Sunday, June 19th, from 9:30am-2:30pm.

Please note previous covid infections do not matter in this process, unless you have a PCR confirmed test within 30 days of going to camp.

The tests are not intrusive, and much more similar in style to a rapid antigen test. They are best described as a "nose picker", not a "brain tickler".

In addition, to avoid disappointment from an unexpected asymptomatic positive, or a positive from a prior case of COVID coming up in the mandatory test, it is being strongly recommended that each camper/ staff take a private PCR test about 2 weeks before camp. This will allow you to document any COVID in the camper’s system, whether it be current or within recent weeks and still come to camp. In the absence of this positive result, if the camper tests positive on the mandatory test (24 hours prior to departure), they will not be allowed to travel to camp on the planned departure date.

Please note- if you end up testing positive a day before camp, you will not be able to come to camp for 10 days, along with other protocols/tests in place.

There may also be rapid antigen testing at scheduled times or done through surveillance at the camp’s discretion. These tests are all included in the covid surcharge.

Important to note: Summer 2022 is not summer 2021. Last year community levels of covid 19 were very low. Schools were teaching online, and campers were truly able to isolate for 14 days before camp. In general the whole community was being cautious about the spread of covid-19 leading up to summer 2021. This year it will be tougher to keep Covid-19 out of camp. Nonetheless, our best strategy is to have the aligned joint efforts of all stakeholders, including parents, campers, staff, etc. to mitigate and reduce the entry of covid-19 into camp. A camper who tests negative, even on the mandatory PCR test could still possibly bring a case of covid into camp, but this still remains our best strategy as the PCR test remains the most accurate test on the market.

What are the pre-arrival protocols?
Please log into your CampInTouch account and sign the 'Release and Indemnity, and Acknowledgment' form which must be signed on behalf of all campers.

Please also ensure that your Health History Form, Swim Form, Camper Photo and Cabin Requests forms have all been completed as well.

This is a reminder that all families will be required to sign the Attestation form approximately 48 hours before camp. Please view the content to ensure compliance with expectations anytime by clicking here.

We recommend you adhere to the attestation guidelines from the day you take your recommended test but they are required in the 7 days leading up to camp

We also ask that in the 14-day period immediately prior to the commencement of Camp (or any reduced timelines as may be communicated in the camp’s ‘Road to Camp’ communications for summer 2022), you and your household:
  1. Make reasonable and good faith efforts to isolate and remain home where possible and as required by the 2022 Covid Protocols, except for essential reasons (which may include school and work), subject to (2) below;
  2. Where departure from home has been unavoidable for essential or critical reasons, follow public health guidance, including proper wearing of PPE, including a properly fitted N95 face mask, physical distancing at all times and remaining outside whenever possible, and follow recommended hygiene and hand sanitization practices;
  3. Limit the number of visitors to your household(s), keeping all such visits short, and have utilized masks, a properly fitted N95, and maintain safe distance in all such circumstances;
  4. Avoid contact with others, and in particular, contact with any high-risk groups;
  5. Avoid potential super spreader events such as concerts, indoor sporting events or similar venues.
What if a camper or staff tested had COVID in the months leading up to camp?
Medical evidence has demonstrated that people can be re-infected with COVID within periods as short as 30 days. Therefore, a test done 2 weeks prior to camp, is the best way to ensure the most favourable possible outcomes:
1) A negative test result (and then you'll take the mandatory test as well the day before departure)
2) A positive test result, which will allow you to follow appropriate protocol and then come to camp without the need for a second PCR test, so long as the camper is asymptomatic on the day of departure.
Do I have to be vaccinated to come to camp?
Yes. Our COVID-19 Vaccine Policy is as follows:
  • All campers and camper facing staff will be required to be vaccinated as detailed by provincial guidelines (at this current time this means: two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days prior to the start of camp, with the possibility of any boosters, if included in the guidelines)
  • We are strongly recommending that everyone who is eligible receive their booster vaccine prior to camp.
  • When filling in your camp medical forms, proof of vaccines will be required and checked by staff prior to coming to camp.
  • Any requests for exemptions for medical considerations, essential service needs, or essential visitors will be reviewed by our medical team on a case by case basis, with protocols implemented under our medical team's direction and discretion.

    Click here to read more info about vaccine recommendations in Ontario
Will the camp fees change at all?
You are committed to the fees as published plus the additional covid surcharge which you agreed to pay as per the terms and conditions of registration. The Covid surcharge for summer 2022 is expected to be $150.00 per camper irrespective of session length to cover hard costs (including but not limited to testing, additional medical support, facility modifications, and masks)
When is camper baggage drop?
All campers (including CITs) are to bring their camp bags to Esther Shiner Stadium on Wednesday, June 29th, between 4:00pm and 8:00pm.  You will receive a package in the mail that will include:
  • Luggage Bag tags
  • A summary page of arrival and departure info
  • Lice/Nit policy reminders and information,
  • New for 2022: A security car pass for your vehicle’s dashboard for all arrivals and departures, as well as baggage (luggage) drop off
Transportation TO and FROM camp: How will the kids get to and from camp?
Busing will be provided both ways.
All campers leave on Sunday, July 3rd at 1:00PM from Esther Shiner Stadium (5720 Bathurst St)
What else may be different in day-to-day camp life?
There may be some periods of masking and/or cohorting depending on medical advice leading up to camp and circumstances as they unfold at camp related to potential case identification in camp. We expect that day to life in camp this summer will be much closer to a typical summer that summer 2021, but will still have appropriate (and at times possibly significant) measures in place to continue our efforts to make camp as practically safe as practical for our campers and staff.
Will my child need to wear a mask at camp?
Camper must bring one properly fitted N95 mask to the bus. Beyond that the camp will provide masks as needed, if needed. See day to day camp life above for more details.
What will the Health Centre look like?
We will have doctors, nurses and first aiders on site. We will continue operating our  Health Centre using appropriate triage, PPE, and related non-pharmaceutical interventions to mitigate the spread of communicable disease.
What kind of social-emotional support can the campers expect?
Each summer our staff works hard to acclimate campers to the experience of being away from home and to support kids in making new friends as they leave behind the digital world. They guide children and teens in their efforts to try out new skills as they stretch beyond their comfort zone. While we know that our campers have experienced disruption to their lives in countless ways, we are confident that Camp remains a place where kids can relax and have fun, connect with friends, explore Judaism and feel a sense of belonging. We have an exceptional team of camper care professionals who will continue the work of meeting campers where they are at and partnering with parents to support a successful summer at Camp.
If your family is in need of additional support to deal with these trying times, please reach out to Daniela Aptowitzer (daniela@campnbb.com) Director of Camper and Staff Wellness (social worker).

More info about our Wellness program can be found here.
Can my family come and tour camp?
While we are not offering personal tours at this time, we are offering home/virtual visits where we give a camp tour using videos and answer any questions you may have at that time.
What if we need financial assistance from the camp?
As always, we have significant philanthropic support from our community to assist families in need for the summer of 2022. We encourage you to apply immediately and we pledge to offer as much financial assistance as possible to each and every family. If the addition of a Covid Surcharge fee creates a new unexpected barrier for your family, please apply for support and we pledge to help every family that we can.  You can apply by contacting us at happycamper@campnbb.com.
Full scholarship support is also available for the covid surcharge for families in need of additional support.

Additional Information
- This application does not constitute a registration to camp, but rather is just one portion of the registration process. A camper is not considered fully enrolled until all required forms, documents and payments have been submitted to the camp office, and the camper has been accepted by the camp in its sole and absolute discretion. NBB may retain any and all monies paid in the event a camper’s registration is cancelled due to missing or insufficient forms, information or payment.

- Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing (by mail or email) to the Camp Director. In the event of cancellation, the following amounts will be non-refundable: prior to February 1, 2022, full deposit; after February 1 but prior to June 1, 2022, full deposit plus $500.00. If cancellation is received after June 1, 2022, nothing is refundable.

After March 1, 2022, campers reducing their session enrollment will be charged $200.00 in addition to the appropriate fees. Refund requests received after April 1, 2022, and approved by the Camp, will be paid via cheque issued in October 2022 regardless of reason.

Families will have until March 1, 2022 to extend registered sessions in order to get early bird discount they benefited from with their intial registration (where applicable). Early bird discounts will not apply to changes made to registration after this registration changes deadline (March 1, 2022).

In these unprecedented times of uncertainty, it is important to note that all accepted registrations are inherently and now expressly conditional upon the Camp being fully and completely operational during the entire upcoming summer camping season, or any part thereof.
- In the event that the Camp cannot so operate during the entire camping season, or any so part thereof, due to COVID-19, related impediments, legislative restriction or other circumstances beyond the Camp’s reasonable control, the Camp will provide notice of cancellation of registration and/or proposed alternative session opportunities to you at your ordinary email address as soon as is practicable.
Upon delivery to you of such notice, your registration will be deemed cancelled or modified, as the case may be, depending on available confirmed or alternative session offerings. The Camp will have no liability to you whatsoever for any damages or losses, however caused, arising from any such voiding, nullification, modification, cancellation or termination of registration beyond those outlined in the camp's cancellation policy, if applicable.
- Regarding immunizations, due to COVID-19, we expect that these policies will be fluid and may change as the summer approaches. Please make sure to be signed up for our email updates. All registrants of camp sessions/experiences/events are deemed to accept the reality of these potentially rapidly changing policies. By accepting these terms and conditions, you are agreeing to potential policies which may include mandatory vaccinations.

-The COVID addendum that applied in 2021 will likely apply once again in 2022, unless any changes are communicated prior to the start of the camp season. Click here to review it and in accepting these terms and conditions, you are accepting the addendum as well.
Allergies and diet requirements Camp Northland cannot create or warrant an allergy free environment. We make all reasonable efforts to accommodate all known allergies but cannot guarantee that there will not be exposure to allergens or cross contamination. eg. Our kitchen uses gluten products like flour and therefore cannot actually be gluten free (it is in the air and on surfaces etc). Therefore, at a practical level, in this example, cross contamination is a guarantee. We are allergy aware and not allergy free. Nonetheless, we will do what we can to reasonably accommodate camper needs and special diets.

IMPORTANT RE: NUTS AND ANAPHYLAXIS/ALLERGIES:
CAMP NORTHLAND IS A ‘NUT-AWARE’ CAMP AND NOT ‘NUT FREE’

Camp Northland has always attempted to order foods that are “peanut aware”. However, we cannot attempt to eliminate peanuts or tree nuts (“nuts”) entirely from camp i.e. the camp cannot be ‘nut free’. After research and consultation–speaking with campers, families, staff, caterers, other camp directors and our Camp Association–we believe that our camp community benefits from being able to include campers with nut allergies in an anxiety-reduced environment rather than attempting to eliminate peanuts or tree nuts entirely from camp.

In an effort to heighten this awareness:
  • Our dining hall and kitchen is a ‘nut-aware’ space. Please note that the camp is not and cannot be ‘nut free’. Foods served by our dining hall will not contain any nut products in the ingredients, although some items do use phrases like “may contain nuts, peanuts or tree nuts ” or “cooked in a facility that also manufactures nuts, peanuts or tree nuts”, or some variation of the above phrases.
  • We ensure that items most commonly exposed to “cross contamination” in the manufacturing process (i.e. chocolate bars, ice cream, granola bars, etc.) are labeled “nut free” but please note that different manufacturers may treat language around nuts, peanuts and/or tree nuts differently. Campers with allergies should always check ingredients.
  • No outside foods are permitted in the dining hall.
If your child has a nut allergy, please educate them to be vigilant in understanding these realities of the camp environment and to always check ingredients before eating a product not known to them or to be safe for them and their particular allergy.
If you as a parent or guardian are sending food with your child on any camp trip, function, bus ride, event, or otherwise it must be kosher and we expect it to be ‘nut free’. Products that are labeled as “safe to share” or ‘Peanut and Tree Nut free’ should be preferred over those that use language like “may contain traces of nuts.” We recognize that finding foods that are completely “nut free”, especially ‘nut free’ and kosher, can be difficult; however your added sensitivity when doing camp shopping is greatly appreciated.

To be clear, Camp Northland is NOT nut-free or peanut-free.

Parent/Guardian Conduct
Any conduct by camper's parents or guardians to any member of the camp's population including year-round full time staff that is deemed by the camp to be inappropriately aggressive, threatening. or violent will be cause for cancelation, dismissal, refusal to register, or other actions deemed appropriate by the camp.

Please click on our 'Camp Policies' page to view the Camper and Parent/Guardian “Code of Conduct”.
By applying to register, the camper(s) and family agree to abide by the Camper Code of Conduct. If you have any questions about our Code of Conduct, please contact the Camp Director at (905) 881-0018 or by email at simon@campnbb.com.

Parent/Guardian Agreement
- For the safety, health and welfare of everyone at camp, campers and their families must abide by all camp rules/policies as set forth by Camp Director or his designate. NBB reserves the right to refuse, cancel or dismiss any camper whose conduct, physical or psychological condition, whose influence upon others has been or is considered unsatisfactory by the Camp Directors. If a camper is dismissed from camp, it will be at the family’s expense and with no refund of fees. All campers and families are bound by the Code of Conduct. The parent/guardian has read and understood our policies, rules, regulation and Code of Conduct on our website and they have discussed these policies with the attending child/children and everyone agrees to each of those terms and expectations.
- NBB is a group experience and campers must be able to participate cooperatively in cabin life, group programs and community living. Campers must meet the health and social maturity standards deemed appropriate by Camp Director. Disclosure of all medical and psychological treatments (past and present) that may affect the camp experience is required before enrollment using the designated form(s) on CampInTouch. Failure to provide full disclosure is grounds for cancellation/dismissal without refund of fees.
- The absence of any particular activity or program, inability to use or operate a particular facility or program area, or failure of any instruction or activity to take place will not under any circumstances constitute a reason for refund. Refunds, deductions and prorates for any camper who arrives late or leaves early for any reason will be made solely at the discretion of the Camp Director, and if payable, would be paid in October, 2022.
- NBB reserves the right to search all luggage, mail/packages and personal belongings. If weapons, ammunition, alcohol, illegal drugs, pornography, tobacco products (including vaporizers including “vape” accessories, e-cigarettes), fireworks, cell phones, DVD players, laptops, televisions, or any other items considered inappropriate or unsuitable for the camp community are found, at the Director’s sole discretion, they will be confiscated and disposed of, turned over to the legal authorities or returned home at the family’s expense and the camper may be sent home at the Camp Director’s discretion at the family’s expense. Generally, packages are not permitted and will be returned to sender, donated to a food bank or disposed of at the camp's discretion. For authorized exceptions made in advance, all packages will be opened and inspected prior to delivery.
- In the event of an emergency, NBB will make every reasonable effort to contact the parent/guardian. If medical attention is required, the signature below gives permission to the health care provider selected by the Camp Director, or his agent, to administer any necessary medical, surgical or dental treatment including, but not limited to, x-rays, routine tests, medications, anesthesia and hospitalization. NBB cannot assume responsibility for the adequacy or quality of the services rendered by the health care provider and any and all claims and rights which may result, either directly or indirectly, including those involving medical and/or legal costs, shall be governed by applicable law and limited by NBB insurance coverage so that NBB, its Directors, employees and agents will not have any other liability. If applicable, the guardian(s) agree to execute any liability waivers regarding pre-existing medical conditions.
-Camp Northland may use a centralized process in collaboration with UJA Federation for various initiatives including but not limited to scholarship funding, grants, and joint projects and/or initiatives. Similarly, Camp Northland collaborates with other funders or 'partners' on various initiatives in place to support and benefit the camp. By agreeing to this Privacy Policy you are giving us permission to share your information notwithstanding anything else contained in our privacy policy, and to accept the privacy policy of the relevant organization(s) or affiliate(s) we are collaborating with at the time.
- Camp Northland-B’nai Brith may use, print and reproduce any photographs or videos, in any format, of my child in brochures, display materials, advertising, newsletters, the NBB website, Camp approved third parties, other websites and for any other legal purposes intended to promote the interests of Camp Northland-B’nai Brith.
- I give approval to my child’s participation in any and all activities (on and off camp premises including trips) of Camp. Such participation is voluntary and I have familiarized myself with the camp’s program and activities in which my child will participate. However, I recognize and accept that new programs may be added at anytime at the Camp’s discretion. I recognize that certain hazards and dangers are inherent in Camp’s programs, whether in or outside of Camp grounds, including, but not limited to:go-carting, inflatables and carnival type activities, wilderness out-trips, bowling, movies, swimming, water sports, boating, ropes course, rock climbing, zip line, biking on trails and roads, hiking, overnights, canoe trips, gymnastics, archery, land sports, athletic competition, including bodily contact, intercamp games, use of equipment, other use of the camps fields and facilities and travel in camp owned and leased vehicles and trips off of camp property. I acknowledge that, although Camp has taken safety measures to minimize the risk of injury to participants, the Camp cannot ensure or guarantee that the participants, equipment, premises and or activities will be free of hazards, accidents and/or injuries. I recognize these inherent risks and expressly assume the risks by enrolling my child. I have instructed my child in the importance of knowing and abiding by the camp’s rules, regulations and procedures for safety, and the importance in participating in activities only when supervised, and my child and I both agree to do so.
- It is agreed that the venue and place of trial of any dispute that may arise out of this Agreement or otherwise, to which camp, its directors, staff or agents, is a party, in the court of Ontario and that this agreement will be construed in accordance with the laws of Ontario, without regard to provisions relating to conflict of laws. If any provision of this agreement is deemed to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable, the remainder of the agreement shall be unaffected, but without giving effect to the invalid, illegal or unenforceable provision. In the event that the Camp is successful in any litigation, it is agreed that the losing party will reimburse the Camp for all attorney fees and costs of litigation.
- If medical, surgical and/or dental services are obtained for any camper, such expenses shall be the responsibility of and paid by the parents/guardians, except in the case of services rendered by Camp employees (not including medical staff) or as otherwise agreed.
- All issues shall be governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario & I/We agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
- Policies are regularly updated and supplemented. Please be sure to stay informed.
Although there is ongoing and regular cabin supervision, there are times where campers may be unattended for reasonable periods of time.
- Notwithstanding any prior communications or marketing materials, our health centre is staffed by doctor(s) and/or nurses as well as at times nursing students and/or first aiders. Routine treatments are not recorded or logged but rather treated in real-time as first aid triage, except as may be required by the regulatory authorities. Communication home and emergency treatment/decisions remain at the discretion of the medical professionals. The camp does have a policy directing parent communication be made for invasive procedures, head injuries, prescriptions, and similar more serious medical interventions.
-Disruptive behavior is handled by staff on an ongoing basis and communication home may or may not take place prior to a decision to remove a camper from camp. This remains at the camp's discretion.

ADDITIONAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
(Active since Summer 2021)
COVID-19 is serious, and while its risks to camp-aged children is currently believed to be small, it can cause serious illness and, in extraordinary cases, even death.  The camp has designed and will be implementing measures to screen campers and staff in order to be admitted to come to camp. As well, numerous measures have been put in place in order to manage activities and other aspects of Camp life in order to reduce the chances of infection and illness.

More information about COVID-19, including suggestions for basic precautions and personal health and hygiene pertinent to COVID-19 can be found by clicking here.  Information at this link may be updated as circumstances evolve, and these guidelines are always subject to change.  We recommend that you check these guidelines frequently for the most current information.
You can also click here to see a health checklist detailing specific precautions to take and symptoms to be aware of as part of your pre-camp screening process. We urge you to read this information, and consult with your camper’s personal physician as to the risks of COVID-19 that may specifically affect your camper, before signing this agreement.
For and in consideration of the services of the Camp in continuing and enhancing its summer program to address the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic, I, parent/guardian, acknowledge and agree as follows:
I have read and understand the information provided to me by the Camp, including the information above, the links and references to other sources of information above, and the potential costs, set out below and in the FAQ, which may be billed to each child’s camper account.
I further understand and acknowledge on behalf of myself and my child or children who will be attending at Camp Northland in the summer of 2022 (hereinafter referred to as "my camper") that they may be exposed to COVID-19 while at camp. I have discussed the risks with my camper, who wishes to attend camp, nevertheless. For myself and my camper, I accept and assume all such risks, inherent or not, and the consequences of my camper's exposure to or contraction of COVID-19, or any variant of concern, and of other infectious disease.  I assume such risks even if such loss is caused in whole or in part by the negligence of a Released Party (identified below).
I acknowledge and accept that the Camp shall be entitled in its sole discretion to enact COVID-19 protection and health-related policies, including but not limited to, policies that:
1.            Require that you, members of your household, and your camper(s), isolate or quarantine, at home and or at Camp, as may be necessary in the interests of the Camp, or as otherwise required at law;
2.            Require that campers and staff remain onsite at camp during the entirety of the summer session in which your camper is enrolled;
3.            Prohibit visitors from entering the site;
4.            Require that Camp operate programs, in accordance with Provincial Guidelines, Ontario Camping Association, and Health Canada guidelines, in consistent cohorts (including staff members) who reside, congregate and participate in programs exclusively within their cohort throughout the entire duration of the program if required, without interactions with members of those outside their designated cohort unless camp policies for interacting with other cohorts are followed;
5.            Require that such further and other Health and Safety policies be implemented, including but not limited to mandatory mask use and COVID-19 testing (before and during camp), as may be required at the Camp's exclusive discretion.
6.            Require my camper to use facilities only at scheduled times and require that my camper may be required to assist in maintaining a safe camp environment by participating in regular cleaning and sanitization before and/or after the use of certain facilities or equipment at camp, assisting with meal service(s), using household cleaners from time to time, etc.
7.            Acknowledge and accept that as a parent I, or a designated member of my household, must remain available to pick up my camper from Camp within 12 hours of being notified by Camp staff, should a positive test or exposure occur.
8.            Permit camp staff and the Medical Advisory Committee to follow and interpret Public Health guidelines when making decisions regarding symptoms, a positive test or possible COVID-19  exposure (an identified ‘close contact’). This includes but is not limited to treatment, isolation, and/or quarantine and or removal/pick up from camp.

I further acknowledge that a special "COVID-19 charge" of $150 will be added to camper fees, to account for additional PPE, safety costs and testing. This charge is subject to the same refund policy as all other camp fees.  This fee to be billed on or around June 15th to the card on file.
I further understand and acknowledge that programs and/or activities that have historically been offered by the camp will not necessarily run if the camp deems it either unsafe, not preferred or not practical to run for the summer of 2022 This may include but is not limited to camp-wide programs, instructional swim, outtripping programs, ropes course, and hobbies.
The Camp will exercise its discretion to change and adapt policies, activities, and programs as may be required to ensure safe and efficient camp operations. I acknowledge and accept that these policies and changes may be fluid (subject to change) in this context. Any representations made in other collateral materials, marketing representations, or promotional videos are overridden by the current changes to our policies, terms, and conditions for the upcoming summer.
