April 21st - Camper Forms | Let's get camp ready!
With May just around the corner, that means camp is almost here-  just 68 days until the magic begins! Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing exciting updates and reminders to help your family get 100% ready for Summer 2026.

This first message is a biggie: it’s all about forms. Yup-  the behind-the-scenes stuff that helps us keep your campers safe, healthy, and set up for success. So grab a coffee ☕️, open your CampInTouch account, and let’s get started!

📋 FORMS TO COMPLETE (via CampInTouch)
All forms can be found under Forms & Documents in your CampInTouch account.
We recommend doing this on a computer or laptop (not just your phone) for the smoothest experience.

🩺 MEDICAL FORMS - Due May 10, 2026

✅ 1. Health History Form
We need a full, updated Health History form every year, even if nothing has changed. This is our primary source of medical, psychological, and safety info. Conversations or emails with staff don’t count, everything must be on the form.

✅ 2. Upload Your Child’s OHIP Card
Snap a pic of your child’s Ontario Health Card and upload it directly. If you are from out of province, please upload a picture of travel insurance.

✅ 3. Immunization Records
Upload your child's immunization records on CampInTouch. Please make sure this includes an MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccine.

Note for returning families: We've rolled over your child's 2025 immunization records. If the submission is pending or if there's been an update in the past year, you will need to upload your child's 2026 immunization records.

What counts as an official record?
  • A picture of your child’s Yellow Immunization Record showing the dates the two vaccines were administered; or
  • An immunization record provided by your family physician; or
  • An immunization record provided by your local Public Health department; or
  • A picture or screenshot from ICON (Immunization Connect Ontario)- please note ICON only contains records if you have previously uploaded them
  • If outside of Canada, a document from your home country’s public health unit (translated to English if applicable)
✅ 4. For Campers with Allergies or Serious Medical Conditions:
  • Anaphylaxis? You must:
    • Come to camp with THREE Epipens (two are carried at all times and one is handed into the Health Centre).
    • Complete the NBB Anaphylaxis Plan with Medical Liability Waiver
  • Non-allergy, life-threatening condition? You must:
    • Complete the Serious Medical Condition Alert Form and Medical Liability Waiver
✅ 5. Medications Program - Important for campers who take medication during the summer
We’ve partnered again with Green Pharmacy for pre-camp blister packaging, making it easy, safe, and with no extra cost! If your child requires medication at camp, here are your next mandatory steps:
  • Step 1: Complete this consent form
  • Step 2: List meds on the Health History Form as well (Camp In Touch)
  • Learn more about this process at campnbb.com/meds2026
🔸 Please only send over-the-counter meds if your child uses DAILY. Otherwise, please do not send over-the-counter meds. We’ve got Advil, Gravol, Polysporin, you name it - in the Health Centre. If your child takes them regularly, they should be submitted through the forms.

🏊‍♀️ CAMP LIFE FORMS - Due May 10, 2026

✅ 1. Swim Form
Tell us about your child’s swimming experience so we can place them in the right group for Instructional Swim.

✅ 2. Cabin Requests
You likely submitted this at registration. Just review it, make any changes, and hit submit!

✅ 3. Camper Profile Photo
All campers must have a recent headshot uploaded (if it is an outdated pic, please update it!)
  • Use a smartphone to take a quick close-up
  • Upload it directly through the “Camper Photo” form in CampInTouch

MAY 15th - 2026 Security Action Plan
Hi Camp Northland Families and Staff,

The safety and security of our campers and staff is, and always will be, our highest priority.

We know that rising security concerns in our broader community over the past 12–18 months have been unsettling. For many families and staff, these concerns may be top of mind as we approach the summer. We want you to know that we take this responsibility incredibly seriously, and that every decision we make begins with the commitment to keeping our community safe.

While taking a robust and vigilant approach to security, we will do so in a way that ensures Camp Northland remains the joyful, welcoming, and deeply connected place that our campers and staff know and love. Many of these measures have been in place for years and continue to evolve as we review and strengthen our preparedness each season.

Our Action Plan: A layered, proactive approach
Security at Camp Northland is built on a layered system focused on prevention, visibility, and readiness. It is not dependent on any single measure, but rather a combination of thoughtful planning and ongoing attention.

This includes:
  • 24/7 staffed electronic gate security at a single controlled entry point, along with overnight monitoring
  • A licensed private security firm, now entering their third summer with us, with personnel on-site who live at camp and conduct regular patrols 24/7
  • Upgraded camera surveillance systems in key areas, actively monitored 24/7 and equipped with AI-supported analytics designed to help identify unusual or suspicious activity
  • Strategic lighting across the property, including perimeter and shoreline areas
  • Routine security rounds across the property, including waterfront and outer areas
  • Strict visitor protocols and controlled access procedures
  • Robust communication systems to support immediate coordination when needed
  • Extensive staff training focused on supervision, emergency preparedness, and response
Given the size and natural setting of camp, our focus is on layered prevention, strong visibility, and the ability to quickly identify and respond to anything out of the ordinary.

Supervision remains constant across all areas of camp, from cabins to program spaces to the waterfront. Camp is not an open public environment, and access is carefully managed at all times.

Strong partnerships and ongoing review
We maintain a strong and ongoing relationship with the Ontario Provincial Police, and our camp is included in their routine patrols. They regularly come to our camp during the summer to ensure visibility and presence, including both scheduled visits and unannounced check-ins. The OPP is familiar with our site and remains in regular contact with camp leadership throughout the year and summer season. Their familiarity with our site and operations is an added layer of reassurance.

We regularly consult with security professionals and vendors, and review our plans and past audits to ensure our systems, equipment, and protocols remain current and effective. This is ongoing, intentional work as we prepare for each summer. We also work closely with the Jewish Security Network (JSN), the agency dedicated to the security needs of the Greater Toronto Jewish community. Through generous JSN and other government funding, we have been able to invest in infrastructure upgrades, as well as increased and ongoing training for our professional and summer staff teams.

As part of this ongoing commitment, the Board is also establishing a Security Advisory Committee to support long-term review and strategic guidance in this area. Community members with relevant professional experience who may be interested in contributing can express interest here by Friday, May 29, 2026 at 7 p.m.

Thoughtful discretion

You may notice that we do not share specific operational details publicly, including exact personnel deployment or internal procedures. This is intentional and follows best practices, as broadly distributing those details can compromise the effectiveness of the very systems designed to keep our community safe. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you ever have questions or would like more information.

A long-standing commitment

For many years, Camp Northland has been at the forefront of safety and security in the camping field. We have invested significantly in infrastructure, systems, and training, and we remain committed to continuously learning and improving.

Security is not just a priority. It is foundational to everything we do. And it is what allows our campers and our staff to feel safe, confident, and fully immersed in the magic of camp.

We are committed to open, transparent, and timely communication with our families and staff. If anything meaningfully changes or arises that impacts our community, you can rest assured we will share updates quickly, clearly, and with full transparency.

We are grateful for your continued trust and partnership. If you have any questions or would like to speak further, I am always available to connect.

We are looking forward to a safe, meaningful and incredible summer, together.

Shabbat Shalom,
Adam Kertesz
Camp Director

June 4th - Lice - No nit policy
As always, the goal for this summer is to have a safe, happy and healthy camp season where campers and staff can enjoy all camp activities without interruption.

In an effort to keep our camp as lice-free as possible, Camp Northland B’nai Brith adheres to a “No Nit and No Lice Policy” which involves staff and campers coming to camp free and clear of head lice.

As a courtesy to fellow campers and staff, we are insisting that everyone who will be attending camp this summer to be checked 5-7 days prior to the start of camp and then again the day before departure.  Any evidence of nits (lice eggs), nymphs (tiny immature lice bugs) and adults (mature lice bugs) must be thoroughly removed. You can do this yourself (using on-line resources or you can book a professional lice inspection at a convenient location for you and with any number of other providers across the GTA.

Our staff will be conducting camp wide head lice screenings at the start of camp.  If your child is found to have any evidence of head lice, then the protocol is that they will be professionally treated on site by a qualified member of our staff team. A standard charge of $250.00 per child treated will be billed directly to each family to help offset the cost of this service. This charge will be applied to all incoming campers and staff at the first practical opportunity for the camp to do so, as the infestation would have preceded camp.

Please note that part of the treatment process involves extensive combing and depending on the severity of the case, this could be anywhere from 3-6 sessions in the Health Centre.  Not only does this disrupt the medical program, but more importantly, it takes time away from your child being able to enjoy camp as it is meant to be.  Campers or staff with lice/nits will also experience periods of isolation from regular activities and/or be required to wear a head covering as determined by camp staff.

If you are planning on booking a professional screening with a professional service, of which many are available, it is recommended that you call in advance as their clinics are by appointment.  We've attached a coupon for families to use at Lice Free clinics in Toronto, Thornhill, Vaughan, or Newmarket to get professionally screened for only $25.00.
Let’s all do our part to keep our camp lice-free.  Although head lice is not a public health hazard, it is a nuisance and is very easily spread in contained environments/close quarters.  Thank you for your co-operation.
