May 23, 2025: Important Health Update: Measles Vaccine Documentation Needed
We hope you're getting as excited as we are for another magical summer on the shores of Moose Lake! As Opening Day approaches, we want to share an important health and safety update related to measles vaccination documentation.Email at a Glance:If you have not already done so, we need you to upload official proof of your child's Immunization records, in particular MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccine to your CampInTouch account by Friday, May 30 .
After that, you can cross this off your to-do list and go back to packing sunscreen and labeling socks 😊
Why this matters:Public health authorities across Ontario have issued updated guidance due to a recent rise in measles cases. We are are now required to collect official documentation confirming that campers have received the measles vaccine (MMR or MMRV).
Please note: Manually listing vaccine dates on the health form is no longer enough—we must have an actual official record on file.
What counts as an official record?
  • A picture of your child’s Yellow Immunization Record showing the dates the two vaccines were administered; or
  • An immunization record provided by your family physician; or
  • An immunization record provided by your local Public Health department; or
  • A picture or screenshot from ICON (Immunization Connect Ontario)- please note ICON only contains records if you have previously uploaded them
  • If outside of Canada, a document from your home country’s public health unit (translated to English if applicable)

Where can you find these if you don't have your child's yellow card:
  • Contact your child's doctor or local Public Health Unit directly
  • ICON (Toronto- please note ICON only contains records if you have previously uploaded them): https://tph.icon.ehealthontario.ca/#!/welcome
  • ICON (York Region- please note ICON only contains records if you have previously uploaded them): https://yrphu.icon.ehealthontario.ca/#!/welcome

What happens if there’s a case of measles at camp?To be clear, this is not another 2020 situation—no lockdowns or camp closures are on the horizon. But if there is a confirmed case of measles at any Ontario camp this summer, Public Health may require proof of vaccination for all those present.
Campers without verified two-dose records may be required by Public Health to leave camp and stay home for up to 21 days at the family's expense.
What you need to do:
✅ Find your child's official measles vaccination record
✅ Upload it to your CampInTouch account by Friday, May 30
✅ Exhale, and go back to dreaming about tuck and campfires 🔥
If you need help finding your documents or uploading them, please reach out and we are happy to help.

Thanks for helping us keep everyone safe and healthy this summer!

Warmly,
The Camp Northland Medical Team

June 22, 2025: Snack and Food Reminders
We’re so excited to be welcoming you to camp in just one week! As you prepare for the summer, we wanted to send a quick reminder about our snack and food policies. Important Rules:
  • No cooking appliances (kettles, hot pots, etc.) are allowed at camp. These items will be confiscated and not returned.

Snacks in the Cabin:Camp provides 3 meals and 2 snacks daily, with additional snacks available at any time of day in the Dining Hall and at various Camp Snack Bins throughout camp. That said, we do allow families to send a small amount of snacks if they choose. This is entirely optional.
 JR SHIFT (Grades 1–6):
  • Campers may bring one standard grocery bag of shareable snacks. (see sample picture in Family Handbook, page 23)
  • Snacks will go into a communal cabin bin for use during cabin parties or for fair distribution by staff.
  • This policy is designed to support our camp values of Family and Community, helping campers learn about sharing and living together as a group.
  • Please do not send anything intended for your camper alone. With a few days to go until camp, this is a great time to talk to your child about this policy
  • Please clearly label the bag with your camper’s full name.
  • Bring the snack bag on the bus when heading to camp.
  • For any campers with registered allergies or dietary needs, please clearly seal and label the snack bag - our staff will ensure those snacks are handled appropriately.
SR SHIFT / CIT (Grades 7–10):
  • Campers may bring snacks that fit into one 20L sealable tupperware container (see sample picture in Family Handbook, page 23)
  • No additional food will be permitted beyond what fits in the bin.
  • Please clearly label the bin with your camper’s full name.
  • Bring the bin on the bus when coming to camp.

Food Guidelines (Applies to All Campers):
  • All food MUST be kosher and nut-free. Items labelled "may contain nuts" are also prohibited.
  • Food must be sealed, in the manufacturer's original packaging with all ingredients clearly listed. Any opened or unlabeled food will be removed and taken to a local food bank.
  • All snack bags/bins must be labeled with your child’s name and Section/Unit for easy return after inspection by senior staff.
  • Camp also reserves the right to remove any food item that could pose an allergy threat to a camper or staff living in the same space and/or section/unit.
  • Any food that does not meet these criteria will be confiscated and donated to a local food bank.

Thank you for your cooperation and support. We can't wait to kick off another amazing summer together!
